Can I Run Oblivion?

To run the remastered Oblivion requirements, we estimate you will need an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 GPU, an Intel Core i7-6800K CPU, 8GB of RAM, and up to 100GB of SSD space.

Through an accidental leak of seemingly official images via the Virtuous website files, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remastered was discovered, with many believing that the game is due to launch as of the week beginning Monday, April 21, 2025. However, a Steam page and the official Oblivion system requirements have not yet been announced, so we've made our best estimates based on Bethesda's last release, Starfield, and the quality of the graphics we've seen from the leaked screenshots.

We believe you will be able to meet the Oblivion minimum requirements with little more than an NVIDIA GTX 1060 graphics card or similar on a Windows 10 system, so long as you also have an Intel Core i7-6800K processor and 8GB of RAM or equivalent. This is just about enough to get most modern games running, and the remaster, which isn't the same as a remake, likely won't demand much from modern laptops and computers.

However, given the quality of the screenshots over their 2006 counterpart, we expect that the Oblivion recommended specs will call for more powerful hardware along the lines of an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti GPU, an Intel Core i5-10600K CPU, and 16GB of RAM. Ultimately, the graphics we've seen are significantly better than Skyrim - certainly better than the original Oblivion - and this will require some beefy hardware to render correctly.

Oblivion size - How big is the Oblivion remaster?

We estimate that the Oblivion download size on PCs and laptops will demand about 100GB of SSD space. Bethesda games are rarely small, but we're expecting a big jump in size from the original 6GB of HD space needed by the 2009 GOTY edition given all the graphical improvements.

So, if you need more space or want to make an upgrade, check the PCGamesN buyers guide for the best SSD for gaming or just check the latest, best prices for SSDs.

Oblivion will run on PC system with Windows 10 64-bit or higher and upwards.
