Can I Run Diablo 2: Resurrected?
Diablo 2: Resurrected system requirements
While it's expectedly bigger than the original, Diablo 2: Resurrected's size is pretty small at 30GB. It is best to run it on a gaming SSD, as are most games nowadays, but you'll get by with a mechanical HDD. The Diablo 2: Resurrected system requirements are similarly pretty tame by today's storage standards.
Diablo 2 Resurrected minimum requirementsstate you'll need 8GB of RAM, while you'll need an Nvidia GTX 660 or AMD Radeon HD 7850 GPU at minimum to run the game. In terms of CPU, Blizzard lists an Intel i3-3250 and AMD FX-4350 as the barrier to entry.
If you fancy bumping things up to 1080p, you'll want to use a PC that matches Diablo 2 recommended requirements.Your rig is going to need 16GB of RAM, an Intel i5-9600K or AMD Ryzen 5 2600 CPU, and either an Nvidia GTX 1060 or AMD RX 5500 XT graphics card.
Of course, if your gaming PC can't handle the mainline games, you might want to look at Diablo Immortal system requirements instead, as the free-to-play romp is relatively lightweight.
Diablo 2: Resurrected settings
Despite being a remaster of a 21-year-old game, it isn't the most optimised, but there are a few Diablo 2: Resurrected settings you can tweak to combat frame drops, lag, and crashes. The first thing you'll want to do is keep an eye on your frame rate and you don't need to use a third-party application here, as the game has a built-in frame counter. Simply type /fps in the chat menu to prompt a counter to appear in the top left (it also includes your ping!). Now, you'll be able to see first hand how much of an improvement you get with our suggestions.
Most of the stuttering seems to be tied to Vertical Sync, otherwise known as V-Sync, and unchecking that box could see you running a stable frame rate. Diablo 2: Resurrected runs best in fullscreen mode without any resolution scaling or added sharpening. Making sure your frame rate is capped at a reasonable amount for your graphics card goes a long way to stabilise your fps, too. It's not ideal if you're running a higher refresh rate gaming monitor, but 60fps usually fares best in this instance. Dynamic resolution scaling can help entry-level to mid-range GPUs if you're struggling to hit your cap.
Diablo 2: Resurrected also features a range of accessibility options that should help make the game more playable. You can increase the chat font size, add a chat message background if transparent is too difficult to see, calibrate a colour blindness mode, and disable camera shake by unticking the box - the latter of which will be a blessing should you suffer motion sickness.
Since Diablo 2: Resurrected layers the 3D models over the 2D sprites, you're able to toggle between the two, although this doesn't seem to impact the performance of the game.
Diablo 2: Resurrected Steam
Blizzard hasn't released Diablo 2: Resurrected on Steam, so you can only download it through Battle.net on PC. The game is also available on previous and current generation consoles, meaning you'll be able to play Diablo 2: Resurrected on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
