Assassin's Creed Odyssey performance guide
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is one of the most graphically demanding PC titles of the year, so you’re going to struggle to run it without at least a mid-range gaming PC. If you can almost run it but are struggling to maintain a consistent framerate there are some tweaks you can implement to improve performance.
- The single biggest change to performance comes from the Volumetric Clouds setting. This mostly affects the quality of the sky and clouds, and turning this down can give you a massive performance boost. Nothing else will have quite as big an impact, but you can noticeably improve things further by dropping down Fog and Shadows, without sacrificing too much quality.
- The detail settings, like Environment Details, Character Texture Detail, and Environment Texture Detail, can give small boosts by being turned down, but also create noticeable drops in visual quality.
- Turning off Ambient Occlusion and Depth of Field have minimal effect on performance, but can be worth it if you’re still struggling.
- If at this point you’re running at a decent framerate but are still struggling with stuttering and fluctuations, consider locking the framerate to 30 for a generally smoother experience.
